Goddesses is an anonymous tune from a collection called The English Dancing Master —-a dancing manual containing the music and instructions for English Country Dances that was published in several editions by John Playford and his successors. The setting of this classic tune is bold and spirited, opening with the melody in unison between the harp and horn/cello, and continues with a variety of melodic explorations of the harmonic ideas.
"Goddesses" is playable on lever harps with a range from two octaves
below middle C to the G an octave above the staff. Harps with smaller
ranges will need to make octave adjustments.
Advanced. Some lever skill is desirable.
Duration: ca. 2 min.
The arrangement is set in such a way that repeats to some sections may be added to extend the length, if desired.
