Music of the Suffragettes - Video

This project came about at the invitation of David Osborn at St. Paul’s National Historic Site in Mt. Vernon, NY. It was presented as part of the site’s event on May 8th, honoring the Suffragette movement.

The initial request was to present music of the Suffrage movement. As I began researching the music connected to it, I found that most of the pro-Suffrage pieces were pre-existing, familiar songs, although there were also plenty of new, original compositions making fun of the Suffragettes. My efforts focused on making some harp arrangements of music that had lyrics by those who supported the movement. I want to thank Kenneth Florey for his tremendous expertise and assistance with all the historical details for the project. The attached video is the result.
